Meet the Team

Belinda Nailon - Teacher & Ceramic Artist
BFA. Ceramics.| Dip.ED Fine Arts.
I’m Belinda Nailon, a ceramic artist and teacher based in St Kilda, Melbourne.
For me, the wheel is a place of presence. I sit not to make, but to listen—to enter into a conversation with clay. Centring the clay becomes a way of centring myself. The process is slow, sensory, and full of quiet discovery.
My work is shaped by this practice: forms that hold something of the moment they were made in. I’m also drawn to elemental processes like Raku, which embrace unpredictability and openness to chance—releasing control and collaborating with the elements.
Some of my pieces are made for everyday use—functional forms shaped in a meditative state, holding the quiet rhythm of the wheel. Others are more exploratory—non-functional works that reflect themes about existence and how we are formed. Both streams arise from the same source: a desire to clear the noise, to tune into what matters most, and to create from that space of deep presence.
My works are held in private collections across the world, including New York and the UK, and I’m deeply honoured by the ongoing connections my art fosters.
I also love sharing this world with others. Through small, intimate classes in my studio, I guide students through both technique and presence. Whether you’re just beginning or deepening your practice, clay has a way of meeting you where you are—with laughter, learning, and the occasional beautiful mess.
Each piece, each class, is an invitation to slow down, notice more, and create from the inside out.
