About
I’m Belinda Nailon, a ceramic artist based in St Kilda. I created Return to Centre Ceramics Studio to gather my teaching and philosophy into one dedicated space.

Belinda Nailon - Teacher & Ceramic Artist
BFA. Ceramics | Dip.ED Fine Arts.
My classes are small, structured, and personal—designed to build solid skills, support your artistic development, and grow your awareness, while giving you space to discover your own way of working.
When you’re new to the wheel it can feel a little chaotic—there’s a lot happening at once, and it may take time before it feels calm. But with guidance and practice, the wheel gradually becomes a place where breath, focus, and movement come into alignment. Through learning to centre the clay, we also learn how to centre ourselves. This way of working is at the heart of how I teach and how I create.
For over 20 years, I’ve looked for ways to find the quite middle - meditation, martial arts, and pottery are disciplines that have shaped my work and teaching. My ceramic work explores the balance between stillness and movement. Each piece begins as a quiet, attentive conversation between myself and the material. (You can see more of my work at https://www.belindanailon.com.au)
The same attention I bring to my own work is what I bring to my teaching.
For those wanting a deeper journey, I offer the Ceramic Journey Series—a clear, step-by-step pathway that moves from foundational skills to surface exploration, alternative firing, and portfolio development. Each stage builds on the last, supporting the natural growth of your confidence and artistic voice.
For more information about my current classes and workshops, please visit the teaching section of my website.
Every class is an invitation to return to centre—to slow down, notice more, and create from the inside out.
