Ceramic Mentorship is a guided studio environment for makers committed to developing their work in clay.
This framwork is designed for those moving beyond structured courses and beginning to refine their own direction in ceramics — whether that means deepening technical skill, developing a personal voice, or working towards creating pieces suitable for sale.
Rather than following a fixed curriculum, participants work on their own projects while receiving individual mentoring, demonstrations, and technical guidance.
Alongside independent making, Belinda introduces weekly demonstrations, form studies, and surface explorations, often shaped by the interests and questions that arise within the studio.
Each term runs in 8-week cycles, with a particular focus and workflow introduced at the beginning of the term. These themes provide a framework for exploration while still allowing participants to pursue their own projects and directions.
The emphasis is on refining form, strengthening technique, and supporting each maker in the ongoing development of their practice.
What to Expect:
• Independent studio making time
• Individual mentoring and feedback
• Weekly demonstrations and form explorations
• Surface investigations such as slip, carving, texture and sgraffito
• Discussion around form, process and direction
• An evolving term focus to guide exploration
Participants work at their own pace while developing their ideas and technical approach in clay.
Ceramic Mentorship is suited to makers who:
• have an established foundation in ceramics
• are refining forms and strengthening technique
• are exploring a personal voice in clay
• are beginning to create work suitable for sale
Numbers are intentionally kept small to allow space for meaningful mentoring.
